We are dedicated to nurturing young learners with love, care, and trusted expertise.

Babies

During the first few years, your child’s brain and body develop more rapidly than at any other stage of life.

A child’s development is strongly influenced by the relationships they build with their family and caregivers. At Step Ahead, our qualified educators focus on creating strong, trusting bonds with each child, ensuring they feel safe, secure, and supported. This provides a solid foundation for their physical, social, and emotional development.

We understand that placing your baby in childcare can be a difficult decision for many parents. That’s why we prioritise building close partnerships with families. Our educators take the time to understand your child’s individual routines, preferences, and needs, helping to create a smooth and comforting transition.

As your child grows and develops, we remain committed to ongoing communication—working together with you to support their journey every step of the way.

Sleep, Comfort & Consistency

Our thoughtfully designed cot room offers a calm, secure space that supports each child’s natural sleep rhythms. We collaborate with families to ensure routines are consistent, helping children feel settled both at home and in our care.

Nurturing Healthy Eating from the Start

At Step Ahead, we support babies as they begin their journey with solid foods, offering nutritious meals and working closely with families to introduce a safe and enjoyable variety of approved foods.

A Thoughtfully Designed Start

At Step Ahead, our baby rooms are carefully created to nurture sensory and physical development. With soft, homely touches and varied textures, our environments support every stage—from early movement to confident exploration and walking.

Understanding Your Child's Developmental Milestones

The following are examples of activities appropriate for children at this stage of development:

  • Says simple words like “dada” or “mama”
  • Waves goodbye
  • Sits without support
  • May show signs of anxiety or distress when a parent leaves
  • Pulls themselves up to stand using furniture
"Encouraging a child means communicating, through words and actions: I believe in you, I trust you, I know you can do this. You are heard, you are cared for, and you are important."
